BACKGROUND: Tim Drake at the DCAU Wiki

PERSONALITY:
To most of the world, Tim is Bruce Wayne’s newest young ward. He has a bit of a past as a thief, and was in juvie at least once, but is obviously trying to make a clean start with Bruce. He seems to be an almost stereotypical teenage boy, who loves video games and junk food, and hates homework. But that’s only part of the story.

The other part of the story is Robin. When Tim first met Batman, it didn’t take him long to figure out that he was really Bruce Wayne (...mainly accomplished by snooping while trying to rob him), and it took him even less time to want to join in and help. While Bruce initially resisted Tim’s attempts to involve himself in his Mission, he soon realized Tim was serious, and that it was better to train him than to let him run off half cocked. And so the second Robin was born.

As Robin, Tim is a bit more serious. While he still knows how to joke and have fun, he does understand that this is serious business, and he needs to take it seriously. People’s lives--including his new family’s--could depend on him, and he doesn’t take that lightly. He doesn’t want to let any of them, or the people of Gotham, down.

His determination to do right by the people he cares about and wants to protect has gotten him in trouble, though. He has been known to go a little overboard. When Clayface “killed” a friend Tim had made by reabsorbing her (she was actually already a part of him, though she didn’t know it), he nearly killed him in vengeance. Batman stopped him, but Tim felt like he should have gone further, and that justice had not been served by Clayface’s arrest.

He has a tendency toward overconfidence and bravado. Part of that is real--he really does have a lot of faith in himself and the training he’s received from Bruce and the rest of them (and in his own experience), but part of it is an act he falls back on whenever he feels insecure or afraid. In fact, the more uncomfortable or threatened he feels in a situation, the more likely he is to act out. When Two-Face threatens to kill him, he replies that he’s not afraid of him and refuses to give him information. When he’s left to cover Gotham on his own, he insists he can handle it, even when it’s clear he can’t.

Finally, Tim really loves to be underestimated. He knows that as a kid, and one that didn’t get the best of starts in life, a lot of people don’t think he’s as smart or capable as he is. He may be smart enough to keep up with Batman and easily recall minute details, but he pretends to be a careless kid who doesn’t pay attention to anything (a fact that’s underlined by his failing grades in some of his classes and his attitude toward said details). When push comes to shove, however, he’s right there with the information he needs. As Robin, being underestimated is one of his favorite things. He likes getting treated like a dumb or helpless kid, so he can show people just how wrong they are.

POWER: Tim has no canon superpowers.

Bird Hop: Tim will gain the ability to teleport for short distances. Similar to Nightcrawler from the X-Men (though without the sulphur), Tim will be able to "blink" from one place to another over a short distance. He is limited to places he can see--if he can't see it, he can't get there.

〈 CHARACTER SAMPLES 〉
COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:

[The video flips on to show a teen peering into the camera. This thing is on? Good. He grins and settles back a little, expression and body language relaxed.]

So I got the basic rundown, ride to the new place, full file on me--and how weird is it that they have all of that on hand? I don't think even my doc back home has my full medical workup! [He shrugs carelessly, like it doesn't really matter.] But, like, no one has answered the really important questions yet.

Are there comic books? Where is the best place to get them? What is the video game situation around here? How boring is school?

If there is anyone out there with answers to these really important questions, can you help a guy out? Thanks.

Oh, I'm Tim, by the way. Tim Drake. [He grins one last time at the camera and shuts it off.]

LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE:

Florida is nothing at all like Gotham, and that is taking some getting used to. Before being scooped up and dropped off here, Tim had never lived anywhere else--and never wanted to live anywhere else either. Sure, the beach is cool to visit, but he misses gargoyles, and crumbling architecture, and the city. Even the clean air is just one more thing that's weirding him out. Where's the pollution?

Still, he's adjusting, and keeping his homesickness to himself as he familiarizes himself with his new surroundings. Most kids his age would be thrilled to basically be on vacation within a twenty minute ride to the beach, and he can be a normal kid. Of course, with his delicate night-loving pallor, he's going to have to wear sunblock, long sleeves and a sun hat when he eventually goes, but that's fine. Maybe he'll even have a good time. Stranger things have happened.

For now, though, he's on the hunt for an arcade or a skate park. Heropa isn't a city like he's used to, but there has to be somewhere for kids to hang out, right?

FINAL NOTES:
Tim will be arriving in a t-shirt and jeans, with a battered old batarang folded and tucked into his pocket. It's still sharp, but it's clearly had plenty of use.
